ABOUT US

Teri Hvizdova, Personal Trainer

M.Sc. Exercise and Health (E)
B.Sc. Physiotherapy (E)

Hi, I’m Teri

I have over 10 years of clinical experience working in rehabilitation settings across Canada and Europe. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Physiotherapy from the Medical University of Slovakia and completed a Master’s Degree in Sport, Exercise and Health at the University of Portsmouth in the UK. I specialize in the assessment of acute/chronic musculoskeletal conditions, and the creation of rehabilitation programs which bridge the gap between post-injury recovery and strength & conditioning training.

As a personal trainer, I leverage my knowledge and experience in physiotherapy and my unique fitness background to create effective training programs tailored to my client’s specific needs. I combine rehabilitative exercises and strength & conditioning training with soft tissue and relaxation techniques to help my clients achieve their goals be it pain management, increased flexibility, injury prevention or athletic performance improvement.

Rehabilitation has been critical for me from a young age. When I was 3 years old, I was diagnosed with leg-length inequality, and after each surgery, it was ultimately challenging, consistent rehabilitation exercise programs which enabled me to live my life to the fullest.    This inspired me to study Physiotherapy and Sport Exercise in order to help others return to the activities they love as quickly as possible.

I have a special interest working with athletes, people experiencing acute or chronic pain, post injury clients, as well as senior citizens.

I am a former, competitive volleyball player with Masters Degree in Physical Education from my native Poland. I started my career as a Physical Education teacher and a Volleyball Coach and after moving to Canada, I worked for several years as a Personal Trainer and Kinesiologist. Later on, I went back to school to earn my credentials in Massage Therapy and Manual Osteopathy and have been practicing in sports medicine and rehabilitation for the past 25 years.
As a life long believer of therapeutic value of exercise and movement, I have made Kinesiotherapy (Corrective Exercise) an integral part of my clients’ care. In recent years, with my clinical focus on the treatment of multifaceted and chronic conditions, the importance of Kinesiotherapy has grown even further and led me to creating RehabGym. Its mission is to provide individualized, targeted exercise programs that could be used on their own or alongside other modalities in both recovery from injuries and general health improvement.
